Provided that the rest of the post is sound, a fence post that has rotted beneath the surface can be supported with a concrete spur. This saves having to replace the post. Dig around the post on one side to a depth of 45cm 18 in. Place the spur within the hole, lining up its fixing holes with a sound part of the post. Then fill the hole with concrete. Allow at least a week for the concrete to harden. Then partly hammer coach screws through the spur into the post and tighten them with a spanner.
