A paint platform is useful for keeping various-size brushes to hand and for wiping- excess paint from a brush when using large tins of paint. It can be particularly useful when working from a ladder.
Make the platform from a piece of blockboard about 150 mm 6 in by 200 mm 8 in and 12 mm 1 in thick. Fit a 100mm 4 in nail centrally along one 200 mm/8 in side, about 50mm/2in from the edge. Along the same side fit two hooks each side of the nail, about 25 mm 1 in from the edge. The two hooks catch on the lip of the tin to hold the platform in place.
Bend the nail so that the platform tilts at the required angle. Be careful, when getting near the bottom of the tin, not to lay heavy brushes at the back of the platform, or the tin may overbalance.
