Always undercut the edges of a hole being repaired in a concrete path or floor. This provides a secure key for new concrete and stops it lifting from the surface. Use a bolster to cut into the concrete and hammer it at an angle of 45 inside the edge. Make sure that all traces of cracked concrete or dust are cleared from the hole; then coat the surfaces to be repaired with PVA bonding agent to increase the adhesion qualities between the new concrete and the old. Finally, fill the hole with the new mix and cover the repair with sacking or a polythene sheet to allow it to cure. If using sacking. Keep it moist.
